Profile Design Blitz Wetsuit

I broke down and bought a triathlon wetsuit for the races scheduled during the winter months.

I decided on the Profile Design Blitz (pictured on the left). Profile Design partnered up with Aquaman to produce the suit late last year. I liked the construction of the suit, and it was moderately priced at around $270.

I live in Los Angeles, and many of the races I compete in are set during summer months and the water temp is not so low that you need a wetsuit. Up until now I've gone without a wetsuit. Even though the ocean around LA can warm up, I've been very cold a few occasions, and thought that I would be better off with the wetsuit. Plus, given the added buoyancy it may take some time off of my swim. I just got the suit, and have not been able to get into the water yet, but I will be using it this weekend at the Long Beach Triathlon. I'll post my thoughts about the suit after the race.

Long Beach Triathlon This Saturday

Lbtrimenu The Long Beach Triathlon will take place this Sunday, September 23, 2007. The race consists of a 1/2 Mile Swim, 11 mile cycle, and 3 mile run. This will be my second time competing in the race. While it is not my favorite race (which is the LA Tri - but I somehow have managed to be out of town during the same weekend of the race for the last two years), I did enjoy the competition last year. The swim in behind the breakwall of Long Beach Harbor, which takes the surf out of the equation, but the water is a bit dirtier than an open ocean swim. The bike ride is a two loop circuit course that is relatively flat with the exception of one bridge competitors need to climb. The run is a fast, flat, one loop 3 mile run along the water with great views of the harbor and the Queen Mary.

Given the demands of work and family, I do not feel that I have prepared to the level that I imagined I would have, but this happens more often than not.

Introducing the LA Tri Blog

Welcome to the LA Tri Blog.
I've been thinking about starting a blog about my experience competing in triathlons for a few months now, and decided to take the plunge.

Goal for the LA Tri Blog:
I intend to share my experiences training for and competing in triathlons. This will include my reviews of where to workout in Los Angeles, reviews of the products I use (such as bikes, wetsuits ,etc.), tips, and hopefully feedback from readers and contributors.

Topics I see my self sharing ideas about include motivational issues, balancing work/family/training, and a brief summary of my workouts (when interesting enough for others).

I am an attorney in Los Angeles. I recently founded my own firm, have two young children, and I struggle with finding enough time to train given the other demands in my life. With this, I envision the blog to be of interest to others who have a 9 to 5 (or maybe 9 to 7) job and are not looking to go professional in the sport and have no other time demands. In addition, I am relatively new to triathlons and still have a lot to learn - so I hope to learn a lot in the process of writing this blog.
